Welcome to the Cobras Wrestling and Development Club (CWDC).  What began in 2000 as a small group of dads looking to promote the "world's" oldest and perhaps most challenging sport,  has developed into a full service community development and outreach program.

Over the last 23 years,  the CWDC has had the distinct honor of developing athletes that have achieved "All-American" status at the youth, high school and collegiate levels.  Numerous students of our program have graduated high school and college with honors and have gone on to serve in our Armed Forces and police departments throughout the United States.  We invite you to visit our CWDC Hall of Fame page for current and past members.

The CWDC focus area  in years  past, serviced North West Orange County and Eastern Los Angeles County (La Habra, Whittier, Fullerton, and La Mirada)  in California.  However, students came from as far away as San Fernando Valley, Torrance and Gardena.

The CWDC  was founded and created by Steve Romero who is a retired Chief of Police and NCAA wrestling coach.  Coach Romero has been coaching wrestling for 20+  years at the high school, club level and collegiate level.  Coach Romero's wrestling experience began at the age of  10 and he competed beyond the Collegiate level in the USA Wrestling, Senior level, until 2003. Coach Romero holds a grade-3 brown belt in Kodokan Judo and has trained in MMA for 20+ years.  Coach Romero earned his Bachelor and Master's Degree from California State University - Fullerton.  The CWDC operates as a Not-For-Profit entity (47-4175592) and  is a USA Wrestling Chartered Club with the mission of developing scholar- athletes that compete at all levels of competition (local, state, and national). The CWDC  serves as a "pipeline" to collegiate level athletics and careers in public safety professions.

If you're up for a physical and mental challenge or looking to develop as an individual athlete and person, the CWDC is the place to be!

Coaching Staff:

All of the coaching staff,  volunteer their time to provide athletic  skills instruction, mentorship,  academic guidance and bring decades of experience both as athletes and coaches.  All coaches are certified through  National Coaches Education Program and are practitioners from a variety of public safety professions (Law Enforcement, Medical and Fire).

Overarching Goal:

Build  reverence for academics - Become scholar athletes - Become great individuals!
